Oman Drydock Company marks the 500th drydocking milestone

Oman Drydock Company (ODC) located in Duqm, 450 km south of Muscat in the Sultanate’s Wusta region, announced that the milestone was reached with the delivery of a world giant Iron Ore Carrier “Saham Max” a property of Oman Shipping Company S.A.O.C.

Since the soft operations in 2011, ODC started receiving many vessels and tankers from Oman Shipping Company which marks another milestone in the developing relationship between OSC, through its wholly owned subsidiary Oman Ship Management Company (OSMC), and ODC.

The yard also handles ships including Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs), container ships, LNG and LPG carriers, chemical carriers, dredgers, RO-ROs and barges in addition of providing local and international navies with world-class engineering services through the joint venture with UK engineering services provider Babcock International Group.

ODC secured a vast area of 1.3 million square meters in Duqm and is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities including two ULCC class graving docks (410m x 95m, 410m x 80m), Five quays of 2,800 m long with water depth of 9-10 meters, 14 units of jib crane with lifting capacity of 100 ton to 40 ton, a slop and sludge treatment facility including slop tanks to store 10,000 cubic meters, five workshops covering outfitting, electrical works, machinery, hulls, blasting and painting and cryogenics.

ODC’s vast area is serving not only ship repair and conversion but also fabrication of any kind of offshore structure in Middle East area such as platform module, jacket and wellhead, etc.
