About Oman Drydock Company.
Oman Drydock Company (ODC) is based at the Port of Duqm and provides ship maintenance and conversion facilities for all types of vessels. The company offers a full range of general repair services including engineering, electrical, propulsion, ro/ro, accommodation upgrades, fitting, blasting and painting as well as procurement, testing, trials and class surveys. Key clients include Great Eastern from India, PIL Singapore, and D&K.
ODC is strategically located close to global shipping routes, which benefits customers by reducing the time that vessels are out of service. Additional facilities at Duqm include an airport, commercial port, an oil refinery plant, a petrochemical plant, a free zone and luxury resort hotels, making it a holistic service provider.
ODC’s considerable steel capability also enables the company to manage major and minor emergency repair projects swiftly. Furthermore, customers benefit from a 2,800-meter quay with a water depth of 9-10 meters, two graving docks able to handle vessels up to 600,000 DWT and 14 sets of jib cranes. ODC is also in the advanced stages of applying standard dock block arrangement, increasing value for money for our growing customer base.
Founded in 2011, ODC company initially specialised in handling LNG and VLCC vessels – before expanding into gas carriers, car carriers, bulk carriers, pipe layers, heavy lift ships, cruise vessels and oil tankers in response to customer demand. In 2016, ODC entered into a joint venture with Babock International to support with engineering and training to support naval vessel servicing.
In a further expansion to its services, ODC also designs and fabricates steel works for the petro-chemical industry, the construction and maintenance of off-shore platforms for the oil and gas industry and is increasingly investing in new technology across the company.
ODC volumes increased by 30 per cent in 2018, and the company recently reached 100 per cent capacity, servicing a record 19 ships in one day. The company’s growing number of repeat customers include Dynacom, Maersk, CMA CGM, ITM Shipmanagement, Springfield Shipping, Shipping Corporation of India, Eastern Mediterranean Maritime Limited and Oman Shipping Company.
